SafetyLine Flies with STARS
OCTOBER 19, 2004 – VANCOUVER, BC - Tsunami
Solutions Ltd. is pleased to announce that Alberta Shock
Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) has entered into an
agreement to recommend SafetyLine to organizations in
the energy and other industries who require a
communication link for employees when they work or
travel alone. SafetyLine will assist STARS in their
lifesaving operations to individuals who work or travel
alone by enabling earlier identification of and reaction
to employee emergencies. This relationship between
SafetyLine and STARS is yet another link in facilitating
a responsive and safer work environment for employees.
This communication link will also assist organizations
in addressing their compliance requirements to have a
communication link in their emergency response plans for
Working Alone legislation.
The SafetyLine automated Lone Worker Monitoring service
uses telephony and internet technologies to provide the
most reliable and affordable solution for companies and
government organizations to meet both the regulatory and
moral obligations of protecting employees who work or
travel alone. Alan Crooks, VP Sales for Tsunami says,
“The SafetyLine product has proven to be excellent at
alerting companies when their workers are in potential
and real emergency situations. At the point of an
emergency, we need to get help to the worker as quickly
and effectively as possible. SafetyLine and STARS will
result in a much enhanced safety environment for those
people that work alone or in isolation”. “SafetyLine
helps build on STARS commitment to safety in everything
we do. The program strengthens the effectiveness of the
emergency safety partners in the Chain of Survival by
helping to enhance the speed of emergency response,”
says Dr. Greg Powell, STARS President and CEO.
SafetyLine is currently monitoring thousands of
employees across Canada each and every day to protect
workers who travel, or work alone or in isolation. Many
organizations are discovering the SafetyLine Safety
Monitoring Service to be the best solution as it is both
more reliable and more cost effective than alternative
solutions.
About STARS (Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society)
STARS is dedicated to providing a safe, rapid, highly
specialized emergency medical transport system for the
critically ill and injured and saving lives through
partnership, innovation and leadership. In supporting
this mission, STARS has an Emergency Link Centre (ELC)
which is an advanced 24-hour communications centre
providing one-call access to a variety of resources.
Around the province, the ELC plays several important
roles. These roles range from receiving the first call
for medical help from an organization or individual, to
being called by a partner in the Chain of Survival for
assistance with an emergency. In all cases, the ELC's
primary job is to connect all of the emergency and
medical services into a single conversation to determine
the most effective medical response for the patient and
the particular situation. This includes the immediate
coordination of medical advice, medical referral and
transportation as required.
